Human T-lymphotropic virus (HTLV) is a kind of virus that affects a special kind of white blood cells known as T lymphocytes (T-cells). These cells work for the body’s immunity. The HTLV infection leaves the body open to serious diseases like leukaemia, nervous system disorder, chronic pulmonary infection, and more. The HTLV I / II Antibodies test is conducted for detecting any such infection caused by the virus or any disorder in the T-cells. The test is directed in two stages: initial and confirmatory. The final results are measured on the basis of both these examinations.
