Common reed is a tall, summer and spring time grass which resembles bamboo and forms sod. It grows outdoors where water stagnation is high, such as in marshes, swamps, along streams, lakes and ponds. They are also used in several household items like thatching, making partitions, fences, coarse mats, carrying nets, baskets, ropes, etc. It is now found all across the globe, and people may be allergic to it when exposed to it in its natural form or after being processed.
