Allergy - Soyabean Test

Soy allergy is food allergy that causes when someone eats the food that contain soybean.it is a hypersensitivity to dietary from soy causing an overreaction to the immune system which can lead to severe physical problems such as asthma. It is usually treated with an exclusion diet and vigilant avoidance of foods that may be contaminated with soy ingredients. The most severe food allergy reaction is called anaphylaxis and is a medical emergency requiring immediate attention and treatment with epinephrine. Soybean is scientifically called as Glycine max, commonly called soya bean is family of legume native from east asia, which has number of uses such as soybean normally are fat free prepares food with products like textured vegetables protein and also used as dairy substitutes and has significant amount of phytic acid, dietary minerals, and B vitamins soy vegetable oil, used in food and industrial applications.

Soy allergy test is performed on a sample of blood to measure the level of amount of immunoglobulin E (IgE) Antibodies in the blood. It is performed to confirm Soy allergy and also during the treatment and after the treatment of Soy allergy.

Process of obtaining blood sample in adults:
A band is wrapped around the arm, 3-4 inches above the collection site (superficial vein that lies within the elbow pit)
The needle cap is removed and is held in line with the vein, pulling the skin tight
The required amount of blood sample is collected by pulling the plunger of the syringe out slowly
The wrap band is removed, gauze is placed on the collection site, and the needle is removed
The blood is immediately transferred into the blood container, which has the appropriate preservative/clot activator/anti-coagulant
The syringe and the needle are disposed into the appropriate “sharp container” for safe and hygienic disposal
