Rapid MP Test

Rapid MP Test

also known as: Rapid MP QBC Blood, Rapid Malarial Parasites QBC, Rapid MP QBC

Rapid tests are rapid diagnostic test (RDT), that is used to diagnose the emergency in the very initial step. The results come out within some time and the procedure for the treatment can be decided based accordingly. Hence time is saved and can be used efficiently in planning the next step in the treatment.Hence the term Rapid for quick and reliable diagnosis. There are different rapid tests available; for instance rapid urease test, rapid HIV test, rapid drug test, rapid diagnostic tests for malaria parasites.

Rapid tests are easy and fast, for instance, in the case of rapid drug test, only urine sample is collected and tested as per the instructions on the kit. Here, the only part that needs to be prepared is that have enough water to give the urine sample, for testing. In another instance for malaria, malaria rapid diagnostic test, detects the presence of malaria parasites in the blood. Malaria RDT assist in detecting specific antigens produced by malarial parasites in the blood. In this case, small amount of blood sample is needed , hence one needs to just be prepared for the withdrawal of blood sample as there might be only minute pain which fades away quickly.

RDT offers a new approach which is easy and quick in the detecting many diseases. In case of malaria it practically moves the testing away from the laboratory and more nearer to the patient. Laboratory procedures to detect malaria require more than one hour which cannot be considered as immediate/rapid tests but surely can be used as reference methods. The ability to detect in such a quick manner and with reasonably decent sensitivity has made rapid tests, a major back up for immediate results, however to confirm the sensitivity and to reassure the results laboratory tests still remains the reference check, where as in the recent times in many cases rapid tests have proved to be accurate , than the existing laboratory reference checks, hence it is better to come to conclusion by taking results from both tests at times.

The rapid tests for malaria is easy and simple test and just requires small amount of blood which can also be taken with a finger stick, the finger is first cleaned with the antiseptic wipe and then allowed to dry, then perform the finger stick procedure to collect the blood, and follow the instructions which vary from kit to kit, transfer and test accordingly to detect the presence of malarial parasites and conclude the same. Positive results indicate the presence of malaria parasites and negative implies absence of malaria parasites.

Average price range of the test is between Rs.200 to Rs.530 depending on the factors of city, quality and availablity.
