Acotiamide
About Acotiamide
Acotiamide is the medicine used to treat abnormal gut conditions like functional dyspepsia. Functional dyspepsia is a chronic abnormality of the upper digestive tract.
It effectively helps to relieve the symptoms including post-meal bloating, feeling of pain and discomfort in the upper abdominal region, nausea, belching and early satiety.
Acotiamide works on the mechanism by which release of acetylcholine is increased in the body. This chemical is responsible for increasing the motility of the intestine.
The medicine is effective only when strictly taken under the supervision of a doctor or physician in a recommended dosage or duration. A complete course of it is necessary as if it is discontinued in between, either recurrence or worsening of the symptoms may occur.
Functional dyspepsia cannot be cured completely. However, the symptoms can be effectively managed and controlled by an application of medicines like Acotiamide. This medicine along with a few lifestyle changes such as yoga or meditation works better to minimise the symptoms.
You are recommended to take this medication before you have your meals. This medical condition might recur if you do not complete the course of treatment. If you are in the habit of smoking, you are advised to quit smoking.
Take exactly as directed. Do not increase, decrease, or adjust dosage without consulting prescriber. Take pulse daily, prior to medication and follow prescriber's instruction about holding medication.
Do not use alcohol or OTC medications (eg, cold remedies) without consulting prescriber. If diabetic, monitor serum sugars closely (may alter glucose tolerance or mask signs of hypoglycemia).
