About Actamase 1000 mg/125 mg Injection

Actamase 1000 mg/125 mg Injection is a fourth generation cephalosporin antibiotic, works by fighting bacteria in your body.It is usually given by intravenous route.Actamase 1000 mg/125 mg Injection is used to treat many infections caused by bacteria including pneumonia, skin infections, urinary tract, and kidney infections.

Actamase 1000 mg/125 mg Injection injection is used in combination with metronidazole (Flagyl) to treat abdominal (stomach area) infections. It is also used to treat patients who have fever and are at high risk for infection because they have a low number of white blood cells.

Actamase 1000 mg/125 mg Injection penetrates the central nervous system(CNS) and can be used in the treatment of meningitis.Actamase 1000 mg/125 mg Injection passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breast feeding while taking this drug.

Though it is very rare to get a side effect after having Actamase 1000 mg/125 mg Injection preparations , some people may get bad or even deadly side effects which includes:

All bacterial cells have a cell wall that protects them. Actamase 1000 mg/125 mg Injection disrupt the synthesis of the layer of bacterial cell walls, which causes the walls to break down and eventually the bacteria die.

Person must not use this medication if he/she is allergic to certain antibiotics including cefepime and similar medicines (cefdinir, cefprozil, cefuroxime, cephalexin Keflex, Omnicef, Cefzil, Ceftin, and others), or penicillin antibiotics (amoxicillin, ampicillin, piperacillin, ticarcillin, Augmentin, Timentin, Unasyn, and others). Actamase 1000 mg/125 mg Injection only works on bacterial infections, it won't treat viral infections such as common cold. It also may reduce your blood's ability to clot, So try to avoid activities that can cause bruising or injury while using the drug.

Elderly people may be more sensitive to the side effects of cefepime. Don't give cefepime to a child younger than two months old without talking to your doctor. Safety and effectiveness in this age group haven't been confirmed.
