About Acuclav Ds Syrup
This syrup is composed of Amoxycillin and Clavulanic Acid. As a penicillin antibiotic, this medication treats bacterial infections.
It is used to treat lower respiratory tract infections including pneumonia and empyema, intra-abdominal infections, peritonitis, pre-operative prophylaxis, gynaecological surgery, non-invasive childhood diseases and perforated appendicitis.

How does this medication work?
This medication is a Penicillin antibiotic and inhibits the transfer of a peptide group in the transpeptidation process. As a result, the bacterium is not able to build cell walls and is killed. It also works as a beta-lactamase inhibitor by binding to beta-lactamase enzyme produced by bacterial cells, which in turn inhibits its enzymatic action and prevents beta-lactam antibiotics from being metabolized by the enzyme.
