About Aztreonam
A monobactam antibiotic, Aztreonam is used to treat or prevent infections that are likely caused by bacteria. It terminates sensitive bacteria and reduces the growth of drug-resistant bacteria.
Ensure to notify your doctor if you experience any allergic reaction. Common reported side effects on using this medication include seizures or related disorders, bloody or watery diarrhea, clouded thoughts, dizziness, lightheadedness, skin paleness, fatigue, abnormal bleeding, fever, nausea, chills and flu-like symptoms.
Patients with hypersensitivity or allergy to any ingredient contained within this medication are dissuaded from using this it. Before using this medication notify your doctor if: you are allergic to any ingredient or food or substance, you are taking any prescription or non-prescription drugs or herbal products or dietary supplements, you are pregnant or are nursing a baby.
The usual dose in adults for treating bacteremia is 2 g given via IV in every 6-8 hours. This therapy needs to be continued for 10-14 days approximately. Ideally the dosage should be prescribed by the doctor based on your age, medical history and current condition.
