About Bisacodyl
Bisacodyl is used as a stimulant laxative. It provides relief during constipation. It functions by stimulating the bowel muscles to help the stool come out.
On using Bisacodyl you may experience side effects such as abdominal pain, fatigue, diarrhoea, nausea, muscle cramps, vomiting, rapid or irregular heartbeat, dizziness, mood disorders, swelling, skin rash and drowsiness. Should your reactions persist or become worse over time contact your health care provider right away.

Onset of action occurs 6-10 hours after oral dose or 15-60 minutes after a rectal dose; swallow tablets whole, do not crush or chew; do not take antacid or milk within 1 hour of taking drug.
It works by stimulating peristalsis by directly irritating the smooth muscle of the intestine, possibly the colonic intramural plexus; alters water and electrolyte secretion producing net intestinal fluid accumulation and laxation.
