Cefotaxime 500 MG Infusion, is a cephalosporin antibiotic, a type of 'broad spectrum' anti-biotic which acts against numerous Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. This medicine is primarily prescribed for treatment of susceptible infection in respiratory tract, skin and skin structure.
Specifically it treats joint infections, meningitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, pneumonia, sepsis, urinary tract infections, gonorrhea, and cellulitis. It is administered into the body by injecting it either into a vein or a muscle.
The recommended dose in adults is 0.5 grams a day to 12 grams divided into multiple doses per day.
