About Ciplar-La 40Mg Tablet

Ciplar-La 40Mg Tablet is used for the management of high blood pressure (hypertension), angina pectoris, pheochromocytoma, essential tremor, tetralogy of Fallot cyanotic spells, and arrhythmias (such as atrial fibrillation and flutter, A-V nodal re-entrant tachycardias, and catecholamine-induced arrhythmias).

It is also used in the prevention of myocardial infarction, migraine headache. Ciplar-La 40Mg Tablet is also helpful in treating the prevention of myocardial infarction, migraine headache.

This medication is a beta-blocking agent that attaches itself to the heart and inhibits the regular molecules from triggering the receptors. It blocks the beta-adrenergic receptors in the heart, thus slowing your heartbeat down and lowering the blood pressure. This lowers the stress placed on your heart, arteries, veins and blood vessels, decreasing the workload of the heart.

The medicine might not be suitable for everyone as it can have harmful effects on people with certain conditions. Before beginning a course of this medication, you need to notify your doctor if you are-

The medicine must be taken according to the doctor’s prescription. The doctor might recommend taking it two, three or even four times a day. You must complete the course of this medication otherwise it can cause you to develop withdrawal symptoms.

    • How long is the duration of effect?

      Ciplar remains active in the cardiovascular channels for 6-12 hours, depending upon the dosage cycle, if no dose is missed, the duration of effect can last up to 24 hours. If an extended release form is orally ingested, the duration of effects can last longer than 36 hours.

    • What is the onset of action?

      Ciplar-La 40 MG Tablet belongs to the beta-blocker family, the onset of action can be easily felt within 2 hours of oral ingestion. As the tablet reacts quick to slow down oxygen requirement in the cardiac channels, the onset can vary from the phases of effects associated with the beta-blocking reactions for controlling adrenaline.

    • Are there any pregnancy warnings?

      This medicine is not considered to be a primary prescription during pregnancy until absolutely needed. A doctor needs to be consulted on priority for discussion of the dosage amounts with the approaching trimester cycle for pregnant women.

    • Is it habit forming?

      • Interaction with Alcohol

        Alcohol

        Ciplar is known to react adversely with multi-vitamins and diet mineral supplements. Please discuss your supplement cycle with your physician thoroughly before starting the prescription cycle for this medicine. A safe gap of 2 hours should be considered between the dosage of health supplements and this drug.

      • Interaction with Medicine

        • Alpha-blockers (prazosin, terazosin): Concurrent use of beta-blockers may increase risk of orthostasis.
        • Antipyrine's clearance is reduced by 30% to 40%.
        • Cimetidine increases the plasma concentration of Ciplar-La 40Mg Tablet and its pharmacodynamic effects may be increased.
        • Clonidine: Hypertensive crisis after or during withdrawal of either agent.
        • Drugs which slow AV conduction (digoxin): Effects may be additive with beta-blockers.
        • Epinephrine (including local anesthetics with epinephrine): Ciplar-La 40Mg Tablet may cause hypertension.
        • Flecainide: Pharmacological activity of both agents may be increased when used concurrently.
        • Fluoxetine may inhibit the metabolism of Ciplar-La 40Mg Tablet, resulting in cardiac toxicity.
        • Glucagon: Ciplar-La 40Mg Tablet may blunt hyperglycemic action.
        • Haloperidol: Hypotensive effects may be potentiated.
        • Hydralazine: The bioavailability propranolol (rapid release) and hydralazine may be enhanced with concurrent dosing.
        • Insulin: Ciplar-La 40Mg Tablet inhibits recovery and may cause hypertension and bradycardia following insulin-induced hypoglycemia. Also masks the tachycardia that usually accompanies insulin-induced hypoglycemia.
        • NSAIDs (ibuprofen, indomethacin, naproxen, piroxicam) may reduce the antihypertensive effects of beta-blockers.
        • Salicylates may reduce the antihypertensive effects of beta-blockers.
        • Sulfonylureas: Beta-blockers may alter response to hypoglycemic agents.
        • Verapamil or diltiazem may have synergistic or additive pharmacological effects when taken concurrently with beta-blockers; avoid concurrent I.V. use of both.
      • Interaction with Disease

        • Administer cautiously in compensated heart failure and monitor for a worsening of the condition (efficacy of propranolol in CHF has not been demonstrated).
        • Avoid abrupt discontinuation in patients with a history of CAD; slowly wean while monitoring for signs and symptoms of ischemia.
        • Use caution in patient with PVD.
        • Use cautiously in diabetics because it can mask prominent hypoglycemic symptoms.
        • Can mask signs of thyrotoxicosis.
        • Can cause fetal harm when administered in pregnancy.
        • Use cautiously in hepatic dysfunction (dosage adjustment required).
        • Use care with anesthetic agents which decrease myocardial function.
