About Clobetasol
This medication is a very strong corticosteroid having a very high potency. It reduces the actions of chemicals that cause inflammation in the body. The medicine is used to treat inflammation, redness and itching caused by a number of skin conditions such as eczema, allergic reactions, dermatitis, rashes and psoriasis.
The medicine also cures several autoimmune diseases including vitiligo, alopecia areata, lichen planus, lichen sclerosus. This medicine is not recommended to patients with known allergy to it. It should also not be given to anyone younger than 12 years old.
Adrenal suppression can occur if used for >14 days. Topical foam is not for use in children <12 years of age. Topical foam should not be used with occlusive dressings unless directed by healthcare provider.
A thin film of cream or ointment is effective; do not overuse; do not use tight-fitting diapers or plastic pants on children being treated in the diaper area. Use only as prescribed and for no longer than the period prescribed; apply sparingly in light film; rub in lightly; avoid contact with eyes.
Notify physician if condition being treated persists or worsens; to apply foam, hold can upside down and apply directly to scalp; gently massage foam into affected area until foam disappears.
Clobetasol is for external use only; do not use on open wounds; apply sparingly to occlusive dressings; should not be used in the presence of open or weeping lesions; do not use occlusive dressings with foam unless directed by healthcare provider.
