About Corex Syrup
Corex Syrup is a combination medicine, primarily used to treat dry cough. It also alleviates the allergic symptoms including runny nose, sneezing, stuffy nose, congestion, watery eyes, etc.
This medication is composed of Chlorpheniramine and Codeine. It is used for relieving symptoms of sinus pressure and congestion such as runny nose, itching of the throat and nose, and sneezing due to upper respiratory infections, hay fever and allergies.
You are advised to not use this medicine if you are allergic to it. Before using this drug, inform your doctor if you have-

How does this medication work?
The drug is an opioid analgesic with antitussive properties that works by binding to opioid receptors in the CNS. Specifically, it binds to mu-type, kappa-type and delta-type opioid receptors and inhibits the secretion of neurotransmitters responsible for the transmission of pain stimuli such as GABA, substance P, acetylcholine. Also, it binds to the histamine H1 receptor, which prevents the action from endogenous histamine. Thus alleviates associated symptoms.
