Drotin-M Tablet

Drotin M Tablet is used to treat twitches or spasm of the smooth muscles, usually in the stomach that causes abdominal pain. It is also helpful in irritable bowel syndrome, menstrual pain and cervical spasm.

Drotin M Tab is a combination medicine containing Dotraverin and Mefenamic acid. It is primarily used for chest pain, abdominal pain, gallstones pain in the kidneys, pain in renal colic and other conditions.

The possible side-effects that may occur on using this medicine are nausea, vomiting, fainting, dry mouth, sleep disorders, constipation, flushing, allergic dermatitis, swelling of face, lips, eyelids, tongue, hands and feet, falling of blood pressure and change in pulse rate.

This medicine should be used with caution in patients suffering from a genetic disorder of the skin and blood. People who have allergic reactions, are pregnant or are breastfeeding are also advised to avoid taking this medicine.

This medicine may interact with a few other drugs like atropine, diclofenac, levodopa and diazepam. Inform your doctor about taking any other medications, before starting the course of this medicine.

Management of Drotin-M Tablet intoxication is primarily supportive and symptomatic. Fluid therapy is commonly effective in managing the hypotension that may occur following an acute NSAIDs overdose, except when this is due to an acute blood loss.

Seizures tend to be very short-lived and often do not require drug treatment. Although, recurrent seizures should be treated with I.V. diazepam. Since many of the NSAID undergo enterohepatic cycling, multiple doses of charcoal may be needed to reduce the potential for delayed toxicities.

Drotin M Tablet works by inhibiting the phosphodiesterase-IV enzymes and helping in restoring the balance of cyclic AMP and calcium ions at the site of spasm at smooth muscles. Also, It blocks the action of Cyclo-oxygenase (COX) which is involved in the production of Prostaglandins. Thus prevents the production of prostaglandins and thereby reduces pain and inflammation
