About Eltrombopag
Eltrombopag belongs to a class of drugs called thrombopoietin (TPO) receptor agonists, and is used to treat patients who have low platelet counts as a result of chronic immune thrombocytopenia or chronic hepatitis C virus infection. Eltrombopag is also used in combination with other drugs to treat conditions such as severe aplastic anemia. Generally, this medicine is administered to those patients who have not responded very well to other medicines, or surgery.
Eltrombopag is administered in the form of oral tablets, or via suspension, both of which are taken by the mouth, according to the dosage prescribed by the doctor.
Before using Eltrombopag, tell your doctor if you are using any prescription drugs, non-prescription drugs, or other herbal and dietary pills and supplements, if you are allergic to certain food items or substances, if you have a history of blood clots or blood related problems, or if you have a history of liver diseases.
