Eslicarbazepine
About Eslicarbazepine
Eslicarbazepine belongs to the anticonvulsant class of drugs. It decreases nerve impulses that cause seizures and pain. It is either used on its own or along with other medications to treat partial-onset seizures. It is advised to talk to your doctor or healthcare provider about all your medical conditions, allergies, and medication you use before starting this drug. You should not take this drug if you’re allergic to Eslicarbazepine or oxcarbazepine. If you have kidney or liver disease or have a history of mood swings or suicidal thoughts it’s best to talk to your doctor first.
Do not start or stop your Eslicarbazepine medication during pregnancy without consulting your doctor first. Having a seizure during pregnancy could harm both mother and baby. The signs that you are having an allergic reaction to eslicarbazepine are: hives, difficult breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. The side effects include: confusion, nausea, feeling tired or irritable, lack of energy, muscle pain, severe weakness and increased seizures. This happens because Eslicarbazepine can reduce the sodium level in your body to a very dangerous level, which can result in a life-threatening electrolyte imbalance.
