Etosys Tablet

Etosys tablet has Tranexamic Acid, Ethamsylate as active elements and is prescribed to stop heavy bleeding during a period. It works as an antifibrinolytic and thus stops the blood clots from disintegrating very fast which in turn reduces menstrual bleeding.

Patients are generally discouraged from taking this medication if-

• They are allergic to any component present in the drug
• They have a problem of blood clots that are present in the brain, eye, or lungs.
• They have bleeding because of a kidney problem or brain problem.
• They experience irregular bleeding but its reason has not yet been determined
• They are currently on birth control, like the pill or even the vaginal ring. This is primarily because such birth controls contains estrogen as well as progestin.

• How long is the duration of effect?

  The effect of this medicine lasts for an average duration of 2-4 hours.

• What is the onset of action?

  The effect of this medicine can be observed within 10-30 minutes of intravenous administration. Time taken for the effect to show may increase with other dosage forms.

• Are there any pregnancy warnings?

  This medicine should not be consumed during pregnancy unless necessary. Consulting a doctor is mandatory to discuss the benefits and risks before taking the medicine.

• Is it habit forming?

  No habit forming tendencies were reported.

• Are there any breast-feeding warnings?

  Take the missed dose as soon as you remember given that the next scheduled dose is at least 6 hours away. If you missed a scheduled injection of this medicine, then contact your doctor for further instructions.

  Contact a doctor immediately if an overdose is suspected.

This medicine acts on an enzyme plasmin which is primarily responsible for the dissolution of clots. It binds to the plasmin receptors and preserves the clot formed. This drug acts by stabilizing the walls of the capillary and correcting the abnormal adhesion of platelets.

Whenever you take more than one medicine, or mix it with certain foods or beverages, you"re at risk of a drug interaction.
