About Foracort 200 Rotacap

This is a combination medication which has Formoterol and Budesonide as active ingredients. It is widely used for treating asthma. It is used for preventing breathing problems caused by exercise. Also, it is used for long-term management of the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Foracort is a long-acting beta-agonist bronchodilator. It widens the airways in the lungs which in turn helps you breathe more easily.

This medication is not recommended for use in patients less than 12 years of age. It is used only for the treatment of asthma and COPD. Foracort is not useful for treating an acute attack. Continue to use this medication even if you feel well for as long as it has been prescribed.

Some of its common side effects are dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mild sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, nausea, stomach pain or upset, nervousness, tiredness tremor and trouble sleeping.

    This medication has bronchodilatory properties and works by selectively binding to beta-2 adrenergic receptors in bronchial smooth muscles. It results in the activation of intracellular adenyl cyclase which catalyzes the conversion of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) to cyclic-3'',5''-adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) and leads to bronchodilation. Also, it works by inhibiting the release of multiple cell types (mast cells, eosinophils, neutrophils, macrophages, and lymphocytes) and mediators (histamine, eicosanoids, leukotrienes, and cytokines) that cause inflammation thus helps in the treatment of allergic disorders and reduces inflammation.

        The risk of ventricular arrhythmias increases with Concomitant treatment with quinidine, disopyramide, procainamide, phenothiazines, antihistamines (terfenadine), monoamine oxidase inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants and also prolong the QTc interval.
