This medicine is a combination of Ofloxacin and Ornidazole belonging to the class antibacterial and antiamoebic. Thus the medication follows a dual mechanism to produce its action. Firstly, it works as a bactericidal by inhibiting the bacterial DNA gyrase enzyme, which is essential for DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination. This leads to expansion and destabilization of the bacterial DNA and causes cell death. Secondly, it works by seeping into the cells of the bacteria and/or protozoa through diffusion and damaging DNA and other critical biomolecules through the formation of reactive nitro radicals.
