About Gb Liv 150Mg Tablet

Gb Liv 150Mg Tablet is a bile acid which is used to treat gallstone problems. Gallstones can result in symptoms like jaundice, pain, inflammation of the pancreas and gallbladder too. The gall bladder creates stones when bile (generally a liquid) hardens. Calcium deposits in the gallbladder can also result in stone formation. This can cause severe pain.

This medication should be taken exactly as directed by your doctor. Your dosage will depend on the severity of your condition. The doctor will generally advise you to take the drug at bedtime daily. The drug works best when taken directly after a meal or with a light snack.

This medicine is not to be used with:

  • Cholesterol
  • Radiopaque
  • Bile pigment stones
  • Stones >20 mm in diameter
  • Allery to bile acids.

Gallbladder stone dissolution may take several months of therapy. Complete dissolution may not occur and recurrence of stones within 5 years has been observed in 50% of patients. Use with caution in patients with a non-visualizing gallbladder and those with chronic liver disease. This medicine is not recommended for children.

Gb Liv 150Mg Tablet must not to be used with cholesterol, radiopaque, bile pigment stones, or stones >20 mm in diameter; allergy to bile acids.

Frequent blood work will be necessary to follow drug effects. Drug will need to be taken for 1-3 months after stone is dissolved. Stones may recur. Report any persistent nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, or yellowing of skin or eyes.

Usual Dosage: 8-10 mg/kg/day in 2-3 divided doses; use beyond 24 months is not established; obtain ultrasound images at 6-month intervals for the first year of therapy; 30% of patients have stone recurrence after dissolution.
