Gemibine 200 MG Infusion is an anticancer chemotherapy drug. This includes treatment for ovarian cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, bladder cancer, pancreatic cancer and soft tissue sarcoma. It is also sold under the trade name of Gemzar. Gemibine 200 MG Infusion can also be used in combination with other medications as supervised by your doctor. It is an antimetabolite drug. Gemibine 200 MG Infusion is only injected into your vein by IV injection or IV infusion.

Side effects may vary from one person to another. Some people may not experience all of them at the same time. But mainly the common side effects of using Gemibine 200 MG Infusion include fever, mild nausea, diarrhea, hair loss, tiredness, loss of appetite, flu- like signs, eruptions on the skin and low blood count. This medicine belongs to the antimetabolite class of drugs. After ingestion, it metabolized and form diphosphate and triphosphate nucleosides. Diphosphate nucleoside inhibits ribonucleotide reductase which generates deoxynucleoside triphosphates which are essential for DNA synthesis. Thus, the gemcitabine triphosphate competes with deoxynucleoside triphosphates for incorporation into DNA and interferes with DNA synthesis, results in cell death.

  Warfarin

  These medications may increase the risk of bleeding if taken together. Close monitoring of platelets count and liver function is necessary. Any symptoms of unusual bleeding, blood in stools, yellow colored eyes and skin should be informed to the doctor. The dose of warfarin or Gemibine 200 MG Infusion should be adjusted based on the clinical condition.

  Live vaccines

  You may be at the risk of developing infections if these medicines are taken together. Inform the doctor if you had received either of these medicines. Your doctor may postpone therapy based on the condition.

  Fluoroquinolone antibiotics

  The effect of antibiotics like ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin, levofloxacin may reduce if taken with anti-cancer agents. The dose of these antibiotics should be adjusted. An alternate class of antibiotic could be considered based on the clinical condition.
