Hydralazine

Prescription vs OTC : Prescription by Doctor required

About Hydralazine

Hydralazine, a vasodilator, helps in the proper flow of blood through the body. It is effectively used to treat high blood pressure. Hydralazine helps prevent heart attacks, kidney problems and strokes. It relaxes the blood vessels which in turn lowers high blood pressure.

Possible side effects of this may include headache, fast heartbeat, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, dizziness and chest pain. If you observe any of these side effects, inform your health care professional or doctor immediately. If you notice severe allergic reactions such as rash, itching, swelling, breathing problems and severe dizziness, seek medical help or inform your doctor.

It is generally used in combination with other blood pressure lowering medicines. The dosage is usually 2-4 times daily or as prescribed by your doctor or health care provider. Your dosage depends on your medical condition. The doctor or health care provider may begin with a low dose and gradually increase your dosage depending on your response to the treatment. Taking larger doses of this medicine without consulting your doctor, may make your condition worse. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly as it may lead to heart problems such as chest pain and heart attack.
