Lomotil Tablet helps in treating diarrhea. It should not be used in patients with dysentery (diarrhoea with blood). It is advised to drink plenty of liquids as it helps in keeping you hydrated. Also, you are advised to stop taking this medication as soon as your symptoms are relieved.

You must take medical help if your diarrhoea lasts for more than 48 hours. Do not consume this if you have blood in your stool or if you are severely constipated. Use caution while driving or doing anything that requires concentration as this drug can cause dizziness and sleepiness.

Use Lomotil Tablet with caution in patients with ulcerative colitis, dehydration, and hepatic dysfunction. High doses of Lomotil Tablet may cause physical and psychological dependence with prolonged use.

If chronic diarrhoea is not improved symptomatically within 10 days at a maximum dosage of 20 mg/day, control is unlikely with further use. Symptoms of overdose of Lomotil Tablet include drowsiness, hypotension, blurred vision, flushing, dry mouth, miosis.
