About Loteprednol
Loteprednol is a corticosteroid. It provides temporary relief to eye disorders such as swelling, redness and inflammations. It is given topically as an ophthalmic solution. It is also used to treat seasonal allergic rhinitis with the help of a nasal spray variant. It is also available in gel and ointment form.
On using Loteprednol you may experience side effects such as redness, swelling, eye sensitivity, dry eyes, headache and itchiness. In certain severe cases you may suffer from blindness and nausea. If reactions persist or worsen over time notify your physician immediately.
Before using Loteprednol discuss with your doctor if you have the following conditions: If you are allergic to any of the ingredients contained within Loteprednol, if you have any bacterial or viral infection of the eye, if you are taking any prescription or non-prescription drugs, you have any allergies to foods, medicines or substances, if you are pregnant/planning to become pregnant or are breastfeeding a baby.
Use Loteprednol as prescribed by your doctor. The usual dosage in adults is about 5 mg, one or two drops taken around four times a day.
