About Nap 5 MG Tablet

Nap 5 MG Tablet is classified as a hypnotic benzodiazepam that is administered to remedy infantile spasms and manage insomnia. However, if the patient is suffering from COPD, hypersensitivity, increased pressure in the eyes and severe damage to the liver, then Nap 5 MG Tablet is strictly advised against.

This medicine is also helpful in the management of anxiety disorders; alcohol withdrawal symptoms; skeletal muscle relaxant; convulsive disorders.

There does exist a risk of damage to the fetus if administered during a pregnancy; however, Nap 5 MG Tablet is still given to pregnant women because the potential benefits definitely seem to outweigh the associated risks.

The recommended dosage of Nap 5 MG Tablet is 56mg, to be taken once at bedtime. But this dosage can be increased based on the doctor’s instructions.

Caution should be exercised for patients suffering from amnesia, children, elderly, individuals suffering from depression, during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Drowsiness or dizziness might be a result of its usage; hence it’s advised not to drive after administering Nap 5 MG Tablet. Reduce consumption of alcohol for maximum benefits.

Symptoms of overdose include somnolence, confusion, coma, hypoactive reflexes, dyspnea, hypotension, slurred speech, impaired coordination. It is to be noted that its highly unlikely for an individual to experience all of these adverse reactions of Nap 5 MG Tablet; generally a small cluster of these side effects are experienced.

Treatment for benzodiazepine overdose is supportive. Rarely is mechanical ventilation required. Flumazenil has been shown to selectively block the binding of benzodiazepines to CNS receptors, resulting in a reversal of benzodiazepine-induced CNS depression, but not respiratory depression.

Take exactly as directed (do not increase dose or frequency); may cause physical and/or psychological dependence. While using this medication, do not use alcohol and other prescription or OTC medications (especially pain medications, sedatives, antihistamines, or hypnotics) without consulting the prescriber.

Maintain adequate hydration (2-3 L/day of fluids unless instructed to restrict fluid intake). You may experience drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision (use caution when driving or engaging in tasks requiring alertness until response to drug is known); nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, or dry mouth (small frequent meals, frequent mouth care, chewing gum, or sucking lozenges may help); constipation (increased exercise, fluids, or dietary fruit and fiber may help).
