About Normaxin Rt Tablet
Normaxin Rt Tablet is primarily prescribed to treat patients with irritable bowel syndrome. It is a combination of medicine containing Chlordiazepoxide, Clidinium, Dicyclomine and Rabeprazole
This medicine is also used as an adjunct treatment of peptic ulcer. It must be taken as directed before meals; do not increase dose and do not discontinue without consulting prescriber first.
Avoid alcohol and other CNS depressant medications (antihistamines, sleeping aids, antidepressants) unless approved by prescriber. Avoid before taking medication. This drug may impair mental alertness (use caution when driving or engaging in tasks that require alertness until response to drug is known).
Report excessive and persistent anticholinergic effects (blurred vision, headache, flushing, tachycardia, nervousness, constipation, dizziness, insomnia, mental confusion or excitement, dry mouth, altered taste perception, dysphagia, palpitations, bradycardia, urinary hesitancy or retention, impotence, decreased sweating), or change in color of urine or stools.
Before using Normaxin Rt Tablet inform your doctor if you have any of these conditions. If you are pregnant, are planning to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding a baby, you are taking any prescription or non-prescription drugs, you have any allergies to any medicines, foods or substances, you have a history of glaucoma, have liver/ lung/ muscle/ drug abuse problems or you smoke.
The dosage for Normaxin Rt Tablet should be determined by your doctor based on the patient specifications. The usual dosage for anxiety disorders and sedation is about 5-10 mg, taken thrice or four times a day. For alcohol withdrawal dosage is 50-100 mg, taken orally per day.
Use Normaxin Rt Tablet with caution with alcohol or other CNS depressants because of possible combined effects. Do not abruptly discontinue this medication after prolonged use; taper dose gradually.

How does this medication work?
Normaxin Rt Tablet works through multiple mechanism as it is a composition of 4 active ingredients. Firslty, it is a kind of sedative, which is commonly used to treat anxiety, withdrawal symptoms and insomnia. The mechanism of action for the drug is not very well known, but the EEG arousal in blocked. Secondly, it contains Rabeprazole, which is a proton pump inhibitor drug and binds to H+/K+-exchanging ATPase in gastric parietal cells, resulting in blockage of acid secretion. Thirdly it contains Dicyclomine, which blocks the acetylcholine receptors present on the smooth muscles thereby causing the muscles to relax. It also controls excessive secretion from not only stomach but also from bronchial, tracheal and pharyngeal muscles. lastly, it contains Clidinium which inhibits the muscarinic acetylcholine receptors on secretory glands, smooth muscles and on the central nervous system.
