About Otorex Drop
Otorex Drop is used to soften earwax. It is composed of Benzocaine, Chlorbutol, Paradichlorobenzene and Turpentine Oil. The medication acts as a local anaesthetic and blocks pain signals from the nerves to the brain which reduces the sensation of pain. It dissolves the ear wax and also exerts antibacterial and antifungal actions.
It provides Temporary relief of pain associated with serous otitis media, swimmer's ear, and otitis externa. It is contraindicated in children <1 year of age, secondary bacterial infection of the area and ophthalmic use.

How does this medication work?
This medicine is a combination of four medicine which includes Benzocaine, Chlorbutol, Paradichlorobenzene and Turpentine Oil. It is used for the softening of earwax. Benzocaine binds reversibly to sodium channels and decreases neuron permeability to sodium ions. This inhibits neuronal membrane depolarization, which stops nerve impulse initiation and conduction. Paradichlorobenzene is used as disinfectant, pesticide, and deodorant. Its precise mechanism of action is not known currently. Turpentine Oil works as a lubricant for ear wax. Chlorbutol acts as a preservative.
