About Petril Beta 0.25 Mg/10 Mg Tablet

This is a combination medication which has Clonazepam and Propranolol as active ingredients. It is used to prevent as well as treat seizures. This medication is referred to as an antiepileptic. Also known as anti-convulsant Clonazepam helps to control panic attacks. This medication falls under a category of drugs known as benzodiazepines and works by calming the nerves and the brain.

The dosage of this medication will be prescribed by the doctor depending on your condition, how your response has been to the treatment so far and also your age. The side effects of this medication vary from patient to patient. It is suggested that you consult with a neurologist before deciding to use this medication.

This medication is an anticonvulsant and an antiepileptic works like a tranquilizer. It impedes synaptic transmission. Also reduces serotonin usage and can treat anxiety and seizures.

      While taking this medication, consumption of alcohol is strictly not advised.

    • Is it safe to drive while on this medicine?

      Engaging in activities that require high mental alertness is not recommended while on this medication as Clonazepam might cause side effects such as sleepiness, confusion, dizziness and muscle pains. Therefore, you should not drive while on this drug therapy.

    • Does this affect kidney function?

      If you are suffering from kidney-related disorders it is suggested that you notify your doctor so that the dose is adjusted accordingly. It has been found that lowered kidney functioning leads to the build-up of Clonazepam within the body.

    How does this medication work?

    This medication is an anticonvulsant and an anti-epileptic which acts as a tranquilizer. It inhibits the synaptic transmission that occurs in the central nervous system. Also, it reduces the use of serotonin by neurons and is used to treat seizures and anxiety. The exact mechanism of action of Propranolol for all the indications is not established. However, this medicine non-selectively blocks beta receptors sites in the heart, blood vessels, lungs, and other organs. Thus pressure is lowered and blood flow in the heart and other organs is improved.

        Ethanol

        Consumption of alcohol should be avoided while you are taking this medication. Activities which require high mental alertness should be avoided and symptoms like dizziness, difficulty in breathing should be reported to the doctor immediately.
      • Interaction with Medicine

        Atenolol

        You should not take clonazepam and inform your healthcare provider if you are already under other medicines such as Atenolol, Cetirizine and Carbamazepine.

        Codeine

        If you are already taking codeine or medicines from the opiate class which is found in cough syrups you should not take Clonazepam or notify the doctor so that the dosage is rightly adjusted.

        This medication is not recommended for use if you are suffering from closed-angle glaucoma.
