About Pregaba NT 75 mg/10 mg Tablet

Pregaba NT Tablet is a combination medication prescribed for the treatment of severe neuropathic pain. It is also used for the management of neuropathic disorders like diabetic peripheral neuropathy, postherpetic neuralgia, and spinal cord injury.

It works by binding to a certain region of the brain and reducing the pain signals sent out by the damaged nerves of the body. This medicine is also utilised for treating restless leg syndrome, epilepsy, shingles, seizures, fibromyalgia and generalised anxiety disorder.

Pregaba NT Tab is not recommended for you if you are pregnant, or have an allergic reaction towards any of its ingredients. Some medicines interact with it. Inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following:

  • Angiotensin- converting enzyme inhibitors
  • Benzodiazepines or narcotic pain medicines
  • Thiazolidinedione antidiabetic agents

Ensure your doctor is informed if you have any of the following medical conditions before starting the medication:

  • If you have congestive heart failure, irregular heartbeat, diabetes, bleeding problems, muscle problems, highballed pressure or low platelet count.
  • If you have improper kidney functioning or are on dialysis.
  • If you have a history of angioedema.
  • If you are pregnant, planning to be pregnant or are breastfeeding.
  • If you take any other medicines, dietary supplements or herbal preparations.
  • If you have mental or mood problems, suicidal thoughts, or are dealing with depression.

The dose for this medication may vary according to the age, sex, pathological conditions and other factors. The dosage can later be increased depending on efficacy and tolerability of the patient.

    How does this medication work?

    Pregaba NT Tab is a combination of Pregabalin and Nortriptyline, thus work through a dual mechanism of action. Primarily, it behaves as a GABA analogue and binds to the voltage-gated calcium channels in the central nervous system. This causes a reduced release of neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, substance P thus slowing down nerve signals. Secondarily, it blocks the serotonin reuptake at the neuronal membrane. Also, it inhibits the reuptake of norepinephrine and raises its concentration in the synaptic cleft.
