Hi, in case of fungal disease of the ear cure does not come merely by taking candibiotic ear drops, you must clean the outer ear by using cotton buds on a regular basis.

I am subham from calcutta. I have a drum leak in my right ear. Recently I consulted a doctor (ent doctor). He prescribed an ear drop called candibiotic. Now the word "for external use only" is written on the top of the drop, but due to a leak in my ear drum. I can feel and taste that the liquid / drop often comes in the mouth. I have to swallow it. So, is it harmful to health?

Can the medicine - candibiotic plus ear drop - be used (for treating ear pain) after the expiry date has passed?
Dear lybrate-user, relax, please do not self medicate, and by the way an expired medicine should never be used. You have not given a proper history of your disease like is there associated itching or the severity of pain, whether it is associated with fever, is there ear discharge. What you need is a thorough otoscopy (like stethescope) examination so that a diagnosis is made. You may consult your nearby specialist or feel free to book an appointment and share other details with me.

Candibiotic ear drops will decrease your ear infection don't use any cotton swab to remove as it will increase risk of infection unless wax is impacted no need to use ear drops for softening of wax you can consult me for more queries/ medications online by clicking on my photo and booking an appointment however, if you found my answer helpful do leave a thanks/ positive feedback as it helps me with my practice.

Dear lybrate-user, just relax. You most likely have wax in your ear. Use wax removing drops as frequently as possible for at least 4 days. Then consult a good ent specialist so that he/she may remove the wax from your ear.

Dear lybrate-user, merely by putting candibiotic in ear canal solves nothing, you have to simultaneously with a cotton bud gently clear your ear canal.
