Hi. Must have contracted covid 19. That can make airways hyper reactive post infective. Need to rule out background history of atopy/ allergy… allergic rhinitis/ bronchial asthma. Consult chest physician nearby. Need to start on regular inhalation therapy such as foracort. After proper work up. Spirometry/ ige level.

Deriiphylline is known to cause headache which may settle down, but if its severe its better to change the medication other options are open.

Dear lybrate-user, from what you describe your mother had 3 courses of antibiotics along with steroids and medication to help with her breathing. If her symptoms have significantly reduced, then very little will be achieved by getting an hrct, but if you feel it will put your mind at rest, you may get it done while noting that unnecessary radiation exposure is not good. It may be better to get her reassessed and treat any residual infection as cough can become a habit after some time and may linger on for a long time even if there is no underlying cause best wishes.

Dear User, If she has recovered from COVID then you have nothing to worry about. In case of breathing difficulties, she has to be put on Oxygen as the Lung function reduces with COVID. For Long term breathing difficulty, Asthma has to be ruled out and if she is non asthmatic she can use oxygen at home for breathlessness. It would be better to get a pulmonologists opinion before starting her on any steroids. If you found my answer helpful, please leave a Positive feedback as it helps me with my Practice. Thank you.
