Nexito Plus Tablet For Anxiety Disorder

I have anxiety and sleep disorder. Doctor prescribed nexito plus tablet. For first 10-15 days I overslept (10 hrs a day), but thereafter I can't sleep more than 4 hours at night. But in afternoon/evening I feel extremely tired and go for a nap but end up sleeping 4 hours and wake up around midnight, still feeling tired. Wondering what suddenly changed and what's the problem? Male, 36.

I was on nexito plus for 6 months (march to september). Later, on doctor's advice I tapered it to 1/2 the pill. For quitting entirely the doctor suggested me to take one nexito 5 mg for 30 days and clonazepam 0.25 mg for 15 days and quit. I'm afraid this withdrawal schedule is too rapid. How do I quit it properly.

It's good that you're thinking carefully about how to manage your medication, particularly when it comes to tapering off drugs like nexito plus (which usually contains escitalopram, an antidepressant, and clonazepam, a benzodiazepine). Here are some general principles for safely discontinuing medications like these: gradual reduction: tapering off medication, particularly antidepressants and benzodiazepines, should generally be done gradually. This helps to minimize withdrawal symptoms. The specific rate of tapering can vary depending on factors like how long you've been taking the medication, the dosage, your individual response to medication reduction, and any withdrawal symptoms you might experience. Individualized plan: the tapering schedule should be individualized based on your unique situation. What's too rapid for one person might be okay for another. It's important that this plan is developed in collaboration with your healthcare provider. Monitoring symptoms: while tapering off medications, it's crucial to monitor for any withdrawal symptoms. These can include anxiety, mood swings, sleep disturbances, and physical symptoms. If severe withdrawal symptoms occur, it's often a sign that the tapering is happening too quickly. Consulting your doctor: given your concerns about the rapidity of the tapering schedule, it's important to discuss this with your doctor. They can adjust the tapering schedule based on your feedback and symptoms. It's not uncommon for tapering plans to be adjusted as you go along. Supportive therapies: in addition to medication, therapies such as counseling or cognitive-behavioral therapy can be beneficial, especially during the tapering process. They can provide additional support and help manage any underlying issues that the medication was treating. Lifestyle factors: engaging in healthy lifestyle practices such as regular exercise, good nutrition, adequate sleep, and stress management can also support the process of tapering off medication. Remember, the process of tapering off medication can vary greatly from person to person. It's important to do it under the guidance of your healthcare provider, who can offer the most appropriate advice for your specific circumstances. Don't hesitate to reach out to them with your concerns and questions.

Nexito (escitalopram) normalises the serotonin levels (transmission) in your mind (brain). If you stop and get the symptoms back, it implies the serotonin produced in your mind is less and you need to continue the medication for long time. There are many having similar symptoms like yours. Do not have stigma about taking the medication, Good luck.

You seem to be having anxiety disorder. Increase in bp is common in anxiety disorder. The medications nexito plus and zaptra are both ssris and work for anxiety, but ideally 2 different groups may be selected. I suggest you get a second opinion from an astute psychiatrist either in person or online. If bp continues to be more after control of anxiety, then we can consider medicine for hypertension. Good luck.

Hi lybrate-user. Medicines by itself might not be the answer to your issue. Medications address only a part of the problem - the biology. This might keep it under check for some time, but it gets challenging to wean off, and you may develop tolerance to it. Psychotherapy has shown to be effective with a wide range of anxiety disorders. Cbt in particular, can help you address your immediate and root concern that is triggering and maintaining anxiety. The physical symptoms might reduce by practicing relaxation techniques such as exercise, art, doodling, engaging in hobbies etc. This also helps with sleep. For the cognitive or overthinking aspect, journaling your thoughts and trying to identify unhelpful patterns can be beneficial. Let me know if you want to talk more about this.

Hi lybrate-user. In addition to medicines, addressing what's keeping you awake and making you anxious might be more helpful. I practice cbt and use various relaxation techniques to help with sleep, overthinking and anxiety. Setting a pre-bed routine and getting some physical activity can help you. Switching off your devices an hour before can be beneficial as well.

If you feel like your depression or anxiety or for whatever reason it was started, is no longer an issue you can certainly stop it. However, you may need guidance from your psychiatrist regarding how to do so to avoid withdrawal which some patients face. A gradual taper down in the dosage is recommended. If you need to consult us for a second opinion kindly do so with the help and guidance of the Lybrate staff.
