Rabonik Plus Capsule SR

Rabonik Plus Capsule SR is a combination medication, primarily used for treating ulcerative GERD. It is also prescribed for erosive healing, maintenance of ulcerative GERD, duodenal ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome and chronic gastritis. Recently, it has also come to be used in the treatment of hypersecretory conditions that include Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

On using Rabonik Plus Capsule SR the associated side effects that you may suffer from are disorientation, delirium, the elevation of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), rhabdomyolysis, bullous, erythema multiforme, drug-induced diarrhoea, twitching, tremor, weight gain or akathisia.

In certain severe cases, you may experience jaundice, interstitial pneumonia, tardive dyskinesia, gynecomastia (a disorder of the endocrine system where there is an enlargement of the male breast size). In the latter case it will be necessary for you to seek medical attention.

Before using this medication it is advised that you consult your doctor and tell him/her if you had/have or are:

• Pregnant, or are planning to become pregnant.
• Nursing a baby
• Taking any prescriptive or over the counter drugs, herbals medications or dietary supplements.
• A recent surgery or are scheduled for one in the near future.
• Pheochromocytoma or gastrointestinal perforation.
• A history of cancer-related disease.
• A history of epilepsy or any other kind of seizures.
• Allergic to any medicine, food or substance.

The dosage of this medication will be as prescribed by your doctor as per the severity of your condition, your age, gender and overall medical history. But commonly a dose of 25 mg of this medicine is prescribed which needs to be taken three times in a day. Results may start to show within an hour or two of using. In case of drug overdose notify your physician right away.

  This medication is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women owing to the risk of adverse effects on the baby. • Are there any missed dose instructions?

  Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up for the missed dose.

This medicine is a combination of Levosulpiride and Rabeprazole. These two belongs to neuroleptic and PPI class respectively. Thus this medicine works via the dual mechanism.

Firstly, it works by selectively binding to dopamine receptors in the brain and the periphery. This action results in an increased tone of muscles in the gastrointestinal tract. Secondly, it binds to H+/K+-exchanging ATPase in gastric parietal cells, resulting in blockage of acid secretion.

Whenever you take more than one medicine, or mix it with certain foods or beverages, you"re at risk of a drug interaction.

• Interaction with Alcohol

  Avoid using alcohol while taking this medicine. Symptoms such as prolonged weakness and muscle pain, lack of sleep, breathing difficulties after alcohol intake should be reported to the doctor immediately.

• Interaction with Lab Test

  Report the use of this medicine before undergoing a laboratory test to determine the levels of the hormone prolactin in the body. This medicine can interfere with the test and yield false positive results.

• Interaction with Medicine

  Iodinated Contrast Media

  Discontinue the usage of Rabeprazole at least 48 hours prior to the intake of Iodinated Contrast media. Inform the doctor about Metformin use so that it can be temporarily discontinued.

  Gatifloxacin

  Report the usage of either of the medicine to the doctor. Use of this medication is not recommended along with Gatifloxacin and suitable alternates should be used instead.

  Amlodipine

  Report the use of either of the medication to the doctor as dose adjustment and safety monitoring may be required.

  Aloe Vera

  Consult your doctor for use of aloe vera while taking Rabeprazole. Suitable dose adjustments and safety monitoring may be required if the intended use is for a long duration.

  Estradiol

  Consult your doctor if you are planning to take Estradiol while taking Rabeprazole. Dose adjustment might be required in such cases. It is advised to consult your doctor before starting or stopping any medication while taking metformin.

  Lactic Acidosis

  You should report the incidence of conditions like kidney impairment, heart disease, severe diarrhea, septicemia to the doctor before taking Rabeprazole. Supervised dosing and monitoring of blood sugar levels might be required in such cases. Any signs and symptoms indicative of the above-mentioned conditions should be reported immediately.

  Vitamin B12 Deficiency
