About Racebase Junior Sachet

Diarrhea generally occurs because of gastroenteritis. Racebase Junior Sachet is prescribed by doctors for treatment of acute diarrhea in children. Racebase Junior Sachet is considered as a prodrug, and as it enters the system following which the body breaks it down into thiorphan.

Thiorphan is an active ingredient that effectively lowers the watery secretions that the intestines produce. Thus, fluid loss as well as the symptoms of diarrhea are reduced. Generally doctors do not prescribe diarrhea medicines to children below the age of 12, but Racebase Junior Sachet can be given to infants above 3 months of age.

In case of acute diarrhea that has lasted for many days your child may be prescribed Racebase Junior Sachet. Some medicines may not suit patients who suffer from certain type of health problems. Thus before your child is prescribed Racebase Junior Sachet be sure to gives his doctor details about his medical history. The drug may not be suitable if-

  • The child is suffering from high fever along with appearance of blood in the stool.
  • The child has any kidney or liver issues.
  • The child is under an antibiotic

The drug should be taken as prescribed. It is generally prescribed for about 7 days or even less and should be consumed between regular intervals. Racebase Junior Sachet is available in granulated form and is mixed with water or food, that is, bottle feed.

The drug should be mixed well and given to the child straightaway. The drug should be continued until the condition improves significantly. 2 dosages of Racebase Junior Sachet are usually prescribed. 10 mg of Racebase Junior Sachet is prescribed to infants weighing around 12kg, while children above 12kg are prescribed 30mg of Racebase Junior Sachet.

Along with Racebase Junior Sachet an oral rehydration solution (ORS) is also prescribed for the child. This helps the child regain body strength and fluids that have been lost as a result of the diarrhea.
