About Tasigna 200Mg Capsule

Doctors use Tasigna 200Mg Capsule in the treatment of some kinds of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). The drug belongs to the group of medicines which are called kinase inhibitors. It functions by reducing the action of protein that helps in the multiplication of cancer cells, as a result the drug controls the spread of cancer.

The drug is available in the form of a capsule and should be taken before a meal, about 2 times in a day. The drug works best if the doses are taken after every 12 hours. The capsule should be swallowed entirely. Crushing or chewing it will make it less effective.

While you are taking Tasigna 200Mg Capsule, avoid eating grapefruit or drinking its juice, primarily because it may hinder with the effectiveness of the drug.

Some common side effects that have been reported by patients using are gas, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, heartburn, nausea, sweating during the night, muscle cramps, dizziness and headache. These side effects mostly disappear with time. If you do experience some severe side effects like problems with breathing, appearance of blood in the urine, sore throat accompanied with a fever and shivering, pain in the stomach or sudden weakness, seek medical aid immediately.

    How does this medication work?

    This medication works by regulating myelogenous leukaemia by blocking the tyrosine kinase activity of the BCR-ABL protein. It works by blocking TEL-platelet-derived growth factor receptor-beta and FIP1-like-1-PDGFRalpha. AMN107 also blocks the c-Kit receptor kinase, along with D816V-mutated form of KIT.
