About Telvas H 40/12.5 Tablet

Telvas tablet belongs to a family of drugs that are used to treat high blood pressure. It prevents your body from absorbing too much salt by causing you to urinate more frequently, which can cause fluid retention. This medication is prescribed to people with congestive heart failure, kidney disorders, cirrhosis of the liver or oedema caused by taking oestrogen or steroids.

The regular recommended dosage of this medication is a 40 mg tablet if taken once a day. The doctor might increase the dosage to 80 mg, if you suffer from serious conditions of the heart. It is important to continue taking this medication according to the doctor’s prescription, until you have completed the course. You should not skip out on a dose, and if you do forget, do not take an extra dose to make up for it.

    This medication is a diuretic which inhibits a sodium-chloride symporter SLC12A3 in the distal convoluted tubule to inhibit water reabsorption in the nephron. The symporter reabsorbs sodium and creates an osmotic gradient for water to be reabsorbed, inhibition of which prevents water reabsorption.
