Ticarcillin

Prescription vs OTC : Prescription by Doctor required

About Ticarcillin

Ticarcillin is called a penicillin antibiotic. It helps to protect against a number of bacterial infections. It destroys the bacterial ability to essential proteins required for cell division, and to build cell walls. This eventually kills the bacteria and stops the spread of diseases. Take due advice of the doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive any time soon or if you are lactating mother. The Ticarcillin drug is contraindicated in patients who are allergic to certain drugs or are using tetracycline antibiotics. It is not recommended for patients who have fluctuating blood pressure, have suffered or are suffering from some kidney, liver or heart disorders. Take abundant precautions especially if your blood has coagulating problems and you tend to bleed easily. Hormonal pills or oral contraceptives are known to interfere with the actions of Ticarcillin and may reduce the effectiveness of the drug. The medicine is administered by injecting it in your body by a medical expert in a clinic.

The medicine should be used until all the symptoms and discomfort of the infection has subsided completely. The doses should not be stopped abruptly as it can increase the risk of a second infection. Mild diarrhoea is a common side effect.
