About Tropicacyl 1% W/V Eye Drop

Tropicacyl 1% W/V Eye Drop is a drug used to help in the treatment of eyes, by initiating the dilation of pupils. It especially assists in the examination of the back portion of the eyes. It helps to paralyse certain muscles of the eyes for some specific diagnosis of the vitreous humour, lens or retina. It also helps to relax the muscles and help in the widening of the pupils, a process known as mydriasis. The eye drop may also be used after surgery of the eye.

Tropicacyl 1% W/V Eye Drop cannot be administered to you if you are allergic to any of the ingredients which compose the drug or if you are a patient of glaucoma. Precautionary measures must also be taken in case you are on any other dietary supplements or prescription drugs. It is best to avoid the medicine if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or a lactating mother.

Some medicines containing carbachol or pilocarpine may interact with Tropicacyl 1% W/V Eye Drop thereby reducing the effectiveness of the drug. It is important to seek advice from your doctor before using the medicine.

Tropicacyl 1% W/V Eye Drop may cause slight irritation of the eyes, blurred vision and increase sensitivity to sunlight. It is best to avoid driving, also advisable to protect eyes from bright light with the use of sunglasses.
