About Tussin Dmr Tablet
Tussin tablet is composed of Dextromethorphan, Guaifenesin, Bromhexine and Chlorpheniramine. It is a cough suppressant used for treating cough that is caused by asthma, smoking and emphysema. It affects the signals in the brain that trigger cough reflex.
Ask a doctor about using this medication if you have chronic bronchitis or emphysema. Do not use it if you are using or have used an MAO inhibitor within the past 14 days of the treatment. This medicine is not recommended for children younger than 4 years of age.

How does this medication work?
This medication is composed of Dextromethorphan, Guaifenesin, Bromhexine and Chlorpheniramine. Dextromethorphan works as a decongestant by suppressing the nervous system and the part of your brain which is responsible for coughing. It does not really thin the mucus, but certainly provides relief. Guaifenesin is an expectorant which reduces adhesiveness and surface tension of congealed mucus in upper respiratory tract to increase flow of mucous, stimulating and increasing efficiency of the cilia to remove the accumulated mucus. Bromhexine is a synthetic secretolytic agent which help the natural mechanisms to clear respiratory tract mucus. Chlorpheniramine is a first-generation antihistamine, which is used to prevent the allergic symptoms from conditions such as urticaria and rhinitis.
