Zole ointment is a broad spectrum antifungal that is useful in the treatment of dermatological conditions and fungal infections including ringworm, athlete’s foot, jock itch, vaginal yeast infection etc.

It is also helpful in curing pityriasis which alters the pigmentation of the skin. It stops the production of certain chemicals necessary for the fungal growth that disrupts its cell membrane. This treats fungal infections by preventing the fungal growth.

The dosage, as well as the duration of use, depends on the type and vigour of the infection. Generally, twice daily application is prescribed. Overuse does not help to cure the infection faster.

The side effects of using this drug include slight burning, itching or slight irritation at the site of application. It can also cause redness, pain or inflammation. In case you develop skin rashes, swelling of the lips, tongue or hives, consult the doctor immediately.

Apply this ointment in the affected parts ensuring the parts are clean and dry. Avoid tight-fitting and synthetic clothes. In case it comes in contact with your eyes, rinse at once with cool water.

Zole Skin Ointment is an antifungal. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol which is an important component of fungi cell membrane by inhibiting cytochrome P450 14-alpha-demethylase enzyme, thus helps in inhibiting the growth of the organism.
