Mr. lybrate-user Kumar, Thanks for the query. Any protein supplement that contains least amount of carbohydrate or nil carb is better. There are quite a few preparations giving 60 to 80% protein, low fat and almost nil carbs, You can select any one of those. Whey protein is a good supplement. Even soy protein is also good. Thanks. Hello lybrate-user ji ,as I am seeing your weight is perfect according to your height and can be reduce a little, Protein or any food supplement is necessary only when you are having any deficiency or health condition, please share in details about this. At this age of your healthy life digestive system is perfect and if you are non vegetarian then your protein options also increases a lot so please try to take around 65 to 70 g protein ,and 2000 calories balance diet for management and if require any information in details please contact me online or come to my centre if living nearby. Are you doing weight training at gym. Then do it 2-3 times (alternate days not consecutive days) a week with at least 48 hours in between 2 sessions. You need to take whey protein (by whatever name it comes. But it should contain 80% whey protein in it. E.g. For 30 gms it should have atleast 24 grams (80%) of protein.) use it only on the day you gym (within 10 mins of exercise). Dose is 30gms. For more details you can consult me.

Whey Protein is safe to consume, but buy only a good quality one. You can chose between Iso Pure and Optimum Nutrition.

Why do you want to take whey protein. It should be taken only if you r doing weight training exercises at gym> if you want to gain weight then you can try this - 1. 1. Don't take tea empty stomach. Eat something like a banana (if you are not diabetic). Or any seasonal fruit or soaked almonds and a glass of water first thing in the morning (within 10 mins of waking up). No only biscuits or rusk will not do. 2. Don't drink water before meals. This can fill your stomach and make it harder to get in enough calories. 3. Take your breakfast every day. Don't skip it. U can eat whatever your mother or grandparent eat in bfast. I mean to say whatever is your traditional food. If punjabi eat paratha, if belongs to south then take idli/ dosa etc. 4. Have light meals every 2 hours (in addition to your breakfast, lunch n dinner) e.g. Nariyal paani, chaach, a handful of dry fruits (eat whole fruit not juice), a handful of peanuts, seasonal fruit, a cup of curd/milk, a cheese cube/slice/ banana shake etc 5. Finish your dinner at least 2 hours before going to sleep. Take simple food like rice n dal in dinner. 7.take a lot of green vegetables n fruit. 8. Drink lot of water9. Everyday preferably sleep on same time 10. Maintain active life style. Exercise to gain weight swimming:jogging:lunges and squats:bench press:deadlifts:yoga:pull-ups:upright barbell rows and dumbbell shoulder press lifting weight is important too, so that the additional calories can be used to build muscle instead of just adding fat. 11. Don't smoke. Smokers tend to weigh less than non-smokers, and quitting smoking often leads to weight gain.
