About Tissue Transglutaminase Antibody IgA Test

Tissue Transglutaminase Antibody or TTGA - IgA is a single effective test to diagnose Celiac Disease. This disease is characterized by unwarranted response to gluten in the diet. Gluten is a protein found in food grains like wheat, rye, barley etc. the body releases antibodies if gluten is ingested. The antibodies IgA are especially linked to celiac disease. The presence of these antibodies causes inflammation of the small intestine and causes damage to the internal wall of the intestines. The damage to the internal walls of the intestine leads to issues like mal absorption, and consequently lead to malnutrition. The TTGA – IgA detects the presence of IgA class of antibodies in the blood.
