My father is having wbc in urine and leukocyte esterase with no nitrates and traces of protein .he is showing no symptoms of UTI like irritation in urination and as he is 74 he has prostate issues and therefore frequent urination is common. He has no fever or other issues. We still went ahead and did a culture and found presence of klebsiella pneumonia post culture. Is this a case of asymptomatic bacternuria which which I read on the internet that no antibiotics are required. However my fear is that is it safe to do nothing after knowing? 3-4 months before he never had wbc in urine also presence of protein is alarming while kidney function test is normal. Kindly suggest if antibiotics have to be given? My dad is diabetic.

Yes if he is diabetic and at this age better to give him antibiotics and start treatment for prostate like urimax once daily. This is my decision.
