About Fastclav 500 Tablet

This is a combination medication which has Cefuroxime and Clavulanic Acid as active ingredients. It is an antibiotic drug that a part of the class of medicines called cephalosporin. This broad-spectrum antibiotic is useful in treating a wide variety of infections. It works by creating a hostile environment for the bacteria to survive.

It damages the cell walls of bacteria and prevents the growth of bacteria. Therefore, It eliminates bacterial infection. This medication is used in the treatment of conditions such as acute or chronic bronchitis, tonsillitis, Lyme disease, and chlamydia. Also, gonorrhea., syphilis, pneumonia, laryngitis, sinusitis, and urinary tract infections.

      Use of this medication is not recommended in pregnant women. Use only if clearly needed under the supervision of a doctor.

      No habit forming tendency has been reported.

      This medication should be given to breastfeeding women only if extremely needed. Breastfeeding should be avoided for 3-4 hours after single-dose maternal treatment. There is a need for monitoring of candidal infections and diarrhea.

    How does this medication work?

    This medication belongs to the second generation cephalosporins. It works as a bactericidal by inhibiting the bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to the penicillin-binding proteins which would inhibit the growth and multiplication of bacteria. It works as a beta-lactamase inhibitor by binding to beta-lactamase enzyme produced by bacterial cells, which in turn inhibits its enzymatic action and prevents beta-lactam antibiotics from being metabolized by the enzyme.
