Ventidox-M Tablet Sr
About Ventidox-M Tablet Sr
Ventidox-M Tablet Sr is primarily prescribed for the treatment of asthma. This medicine is a combination of Doxofylline and Montelukast which belong to the class of bronchodilator and leukotriene receptor antagonist respctively.
Ventidox relieves symptoms like shortness of breath, wheezing, chest tightness resulting from chronic bronchitis, asthma, emphysema, etc. It helps relax the smooth muscles of the airway leading to the lung.
It impedes the production of phosphodiesterase as well as leukotriene and relaxes the smooth muscles in the respiratory tract. The dosage of this drug is usually 400 mg per day, in a single evening dose. This reduces the possibility of nocturnal symptoms and ensures a comfortable day.
Sometimes twice daily use may be recommended depending upon the treatment. The maximum dose is up to 1,200 mg per day. It may be administered with or without food. The possible side effects are nausea, vomiting, arrhythmia, epigastric pain, palpitations etc.
Inform the physician of all pre-existing diseases and allergies before starting this drug. It must not be prescribed to pregnant and lactating women. This medication may also prove harmful for patients suffering from myocardial infarction, peptic ulcers, hyperthyroidism, and seizures.
No habit-forming tendencies are found. The is a newer generation of Xanthine Bronchodilator or in simpler words an inhaler, which does not have major Cardiovascular Adverse effects. Differing from its predecessors it is relatively safer and has fewer drug on drug interaction.
This medication is not for an acute asthmatic attack; in acute attack, follow instructions of prescriber. Do not stop other asthma medication unless advised by prescriber. Take every evening on a continuous basis; do not discontinue even if feeling better (this medication may help reduce incidence of acute attacks).
