HSV or Herpes Simplex Virus is a virus that causes the common viral infection Herpes. The HSV 2 is a type of the virus. The HSV 2 testing identifies the presence of the virus in a sample to diagnose a case of acute herpes infection; it also detects herpes antibodies in the blood that helps to know about previous cases of herpes. HSV 2 is contagious and can cause lesions around the genital area. HSV 2 is generally a sexually transmitted virus and usually many with HSV 2 virus are unaware of it. The virus can pass from one to the other through contact of the skin while the sores are healing and sometimes even when there are no visible sores.
