The substance causing allergy, when inhaled or eaten is called an Allergen. An allergen disturbs the immune system and causes sensitivity. One such kind of allergy is the allergy to eggplant (baingan brinjal). Allergies exclusive to eggplant are very rare which might be due to different factors such as allergenic proteins, histamines, other alkaloids, etc. Food allergy symptoms are caused by the interaction between a food allergen and an antibody known as IgE.To diagnose a food allergy, an allergist may use a Skin Prick Test (SPT) also called a puncture or scratch test, to measure the presence of IgE (immunoglobulin E) antibodies for the suspected food.
