About Amylase (Body Fluid) Test

An Amylase blood test is often done to get a better picture of your pancreas as well as to diagnose
any infection of the same organ, including pancreatic cancer. Amylase is a protein that’s produced in
your pancreas which in turn helps your body metabolize the food and break it down. An abnormal
amount of amylase in your body is indication enough that something is wrong with your pancreas
and as this is a serious health condition, it is important that you consult a physician the moment you
experience any of the following symptoms.
Abdominal pain
Discomfort in and around your abdomen
Fever
Chills
Nausea
Vomiting
Inability to hold any food down
