The sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) tests may be used to evaluate men for low testosterone and women for excess testosterone production. Testing for albumin level and one or more other sex hormone such as prolactin, estradiol and luteinizing hormone may also help to diagnose and evaluate a patient’s existing balance of hormones.
