Neisseria Gonorrhoeae is a human pathogen that is responsible for sexually transmitted diseases (STD) gonorrhea. The gonococcal infection usually occurs in the lower or upper tract, ophthalmic area, pharynx, bloodstream, and rectum. Men and women who are sexually active are susceptible to gonococcal infection, but out of the total infection people, 80% of them are found to be females. Neisseria Gonorrhoeae spreads itself in a CO2 environment and hence rectum, cervix, urethra and the throat are the major sites of infection. If the infection is left untreated, it can cause serious and permanent health problems in both men and women.
